And on iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, or iPad mini 4, you can use Split View to view VLC side by side with another app at the same time, like when you want to read up on the “Rocky” spinoff “Creed” on Google while watching the original “Rocky” on VLC. On iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, or iPad mini 2 or later, you can use Slide Over to view VLC over another app. The new version of VLC also boasts support for multitasking on iPad. Note, though, that Spotlight returns results only for files that you’ve previously played in VLC, not for all files that are in the app. VLC now also lets you search and get to your files in the app directly from the home screen of your iOS device using Spotlight.
